Background Information
The American Society of Civil Engineers is the oldest national engineering society in the United States.
The mission of ASCE is to enhance the quality worldwide by advancing professional knowledge and
improving the practice of civil engineering in service to humanity. Founded in 1852, ASCE has more than
150,000 student members. The University of Houston ASCE Student Chapter mission is to create an
environment that fosters communication and interaction between civil engineering students, faculty, and
professional engineers.  The chapter has been continually active since its foundation in 1969.
Beyond the many activities of a student chapter, we also work closely with other engineering students
                       organization to co-coordinate events.
