On June 20, 21, and 22, I circumnavigated Galveston Island, TX in my 15 foot West Wight Potter sailboat. The actual time of the trip was 47 hours 50 minutes. The trip began at San Luis Pass on the west end of Galveston Island. The first leg was in the Gulf along the Seawall. I spent the first night anchored at Offuts Bayou and the second night next to the San Luis Pass bridge. Here are a few photos of the trip.
The route.
The zig-zagging to get past the shoals outside of Offuts Bayou resulted in a loss of 5 hours.

Launching the boat at San Luis County Park at 6:45 on the morning of 20 June 1998.

San Luis Pass Bridge - Doesn't look too bad. Let's go for it.
