Analog to Digital Conversion

Analog to digital conversion (A-to-D) is used to quantize an analog signal so that it can be stored in a computer as a sequence of binary numbers.  

Below is a diagram illustrating the components of a typical A-to-D conversion system: 

 


Click on the button below so run a program that demonstrates the quantization effects of the A-to-D process.  You will be able to vary factors such as the DC offset, gain, and number of bits of quantization.
