NEW BOOK SERIES IN Engineering and Management Innovation

Many US manufacturers have experienced significant decline in their profitability margins and decrease in their market share in recent years. Higher labor and material costs coupled with the healthcare and legal fees have driven the cost of products to a new height that no longer American manufacturers can compete with their counterparts in global markets. Given the importance of manufacturing as a driver for service and transportation sectors, the failure to achieve high competitiveness in manufacturing will result in the loss of highly paying jobs all across the economy. In order to retain their competitive advantage, US manufacturers must constantly look for innovative solutions to introduce new products at significantly lower costs. Some of the new initiatives introduced by the federal government and adapted by several states as the primary objectives to boost the innovation and create higher paying jobs for the US workforce include the following areas:

  1. Aerospace
  2. Energy
  3. Biotechnology
  4. Nanotechnology
  5. Manufacturing
  6. Logistics Supply Chain Management
  7. Health Care Delivery and Management

The Auerbach Publication's new series on Industrial and Systems Engineering will focus on introducing and publishing timely edited and authored books on the above referenced areas. It is intended to provide a scientific and practical base for researchers, practitioners, and students involved in manufacturing engineering, operation research, operation management, biomedical engineering, systems engineering and medical physics.

Individuals interested in authoring/editing books in the above mentioned subject areas should submit detailed proposal which includes: a) Title, b) Objectives and scope of the book, c) Table of contents, d) Intended audience, e) A brief note on comparison with existing books in the same area, f) Intended length of the book, and g) A sample chapter (for authored books) to:
